Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Overview / Procedure FAQs / Post-Operative Instructions
Over time, the skin and tissue of the breast can sag—a condition called "breast ptosis"—especially following pregnancy and nursing, or significant weight gain or loss. A Breast Lift (Mastopexy) can help to correct sagging by removing and re-draping excess skin and tightening the breast tissue. Women who have larger areolas can also have this reduced during the procedure.

There are three different incisions for the breast lift procedure based upon how much excess breast skin and tissue need to be removed: 1) around the areola (the donut incision); 2) around the areola and vertically down from the areola to the breast crease, also known as the inframammary crease, (commonly referred to as the lollipop incision); and 3) around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease and then horizontally along the breast crease, (the anchor incision). During your initial consultation with female plastic surgeon, Dr. Tanya Atagi, she will discuss how effective each option will be in meeting your goals. So that you can make the decision that is right for you.

For further breast rejuvenation, a mastopexy can be performed in conjunction with a breast augmentation (which entails placement of a saline or silicone breast implant) when additional fullness is desired.

It is important to note that not only will your procedure be performed by one of Denver's most experienced and recognized breast surgeons, Dr. Tanya Atagi, but it will be performed under the guidance of a MD anesthesiologist. Although not all plastic surgeons take this extra precaution, we believe it is highly important to have the best-trained and most experienced medical professionals on your case.
