Here at Atagi Plastic Surgery and Skin Aesthetics, we’re committed to helping our patients achieve their aesthetic goals from head to toe. That’s why we offer a wide variety of surgical options, like breast augmentation, to suit your unique needs. If you’re dissatisfied with the size or shape of your breasts, breast augmentation offers an effective way to enhance your body confidence and your contours.
Curious to know if this procedure is right for you? Let’s get into the details:
How it works
During your consultation, you will meet with Dr. Atagi to discuss your concerns and goals. You will have the opportunity to try on sizers to help determine a size range. Dr. Atagi will go over the pros and cons of saline and silicone gel implants. Once a surgery date has been selected, you will come in two weeks before surgery to have a pre-op appointment.
On the day of surgery, you will receive general anesthesia, which helps to minimize pain and discomfort during your procedure. A small incision is made around the areola or at the inframammary crease, and the implant is carefully placed above or below the pectoralis muscle. We will help you determine the ideal placement during your consultation. The incision is then sutured closed and a bra is placed onto the breasts. After your breast augmentation, you will be monitored for an hour or two, after which time you’re free to return home.
The recovery period
Exact recovery time can vary from patient to patient, but we recommend avoiding physical activity for the first two weeks. Most patients can slowly resume physical activity in the two to four weeks following breast augmentation.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation?
A: If you are physically healthy and desire fuller, more symmetrical breasts, you’re a suitable candidate for breast augmentation. You also must not be pregnant or breastfeeding at the time of your procedure.
Q: How long does breast augmentation take?
A: You must arrive two hours before your scheduled appointment. The procedure itself takes about two hours, and you will remain in recovery for one to two hours to be monitored.
Q: How do I choose my new size?
A: During your initial consultation, we will work with you to determine which breast size would suit your goals. Your body type might influence your ideal size, but you can also try on “sizers” to help you decide.
Q: Can I combine breast augmentation with other procedures?
A: Yes — breast augmentation results can be further enhanced with a breast lift, a procedure which lifts and tightens lax skin on the breasts. Some patients may choose to undergo a tummy tuck or liposuction along with their breast augmentation to complement their results.
