Question
Dear Dr. Atagi,
This winter, I have been exfoliating, hydrating and using masks religiously but I swear I can see more sun damage and new, fine lines! My skin looks dull and it feels as rough as a Brillo pad!
Any suggestions?
Answer
This is a very common complaint that many of patients at Atagi Plastic Surgery & Atagi Skin Aesthetics in Denver have during this time of year. I have found that layering chemical peels and a series of photo facials is ideal for addressing multiple symptoms and rejuvenating your appearance.
We begin with a chemical peel which dissolves the most superficial layer of dead skin cells, treating dry, rough, lackluster skin, age and sun spots and clogged pores. These can also help to reduce fine lines under the eyes or around the mouth. As new, fresh skin rises to the surface, we can begin to address deeper damage with photo facials.
We would start this second layer of the treatment by selecting a customizable Photo Facial program. Photo Facials or Broad Band Light (BBL) technology uses pulses of light to improve the appearance of rosacea, broken capillaries, brown spots and other pigment irregularities as well as photoageing due to sun damage. Pigment in the skin absorbs laser light resulting in the elimination of unwanted pigmentation and irregularities..
I have found that by layering chemical peels and photo facials, you can receive excellent correction and collagen stimulation resulting in overall conditioning of your skin. I encourage you to learn more during a free consultation.
