What is plastic surgery?
Plastic surgery is a specialty of surgical medicine that focuses on the restoration, reconstruction, and enhancement in the function and appearance of body or facial characteristics. At Atagi Plastic Surgery, our goal is to use plastic surgery practices to improve the overall quality of each patient’s life by helping them achieve their ideal body and boost their self-confidence. Dr. Tanya Atagi has a passion for aesthetic beauty and wants to share that passion with you!
Why is it important to choose a “board-certified” doctor?
Unbeknownst to many, doctors who have not been board-certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons are still allowed to practice surgery. The distinction is meant to set apart plastic surgeons, such as Dr. Atagi, with at least six years of surgical training and experience so you as a patient know that you’re getting the highest quality treatment possible. So when you’re selecting a doctor to entrust your body, it is of the utmost importance that you ensure he or she is board-certified.
What does FACS mean?
The letters FACS, usually found following a surgeon’s name, mean “Fellow, American College of Surgeons.” Founded in 1913 to raise the standards of the patient surgical experience, this distinction ensures patients that the surgeon’s education, qualifications, training, and ethics have passed evaluation and are consistent with those of the American College of Surgeons.
