Tummy tuck (also known as abdominoplasty) is an extremely popular procedure among our Denver clientele, as it is the gold standard for removing excess skin and fat around the midsection. Just look at that real before and after!
First off let’s correct some prevalent falsehoods regarding the tummy tuck procedure.
New Beauty Magazine recently addressed the two common rumors in an article titled “Tummy Tuck True-or False” that provided valuable insight on the matter.
The first fib is that an abdominoplasty can cause changes in an individual’s digestion. This is false, as only skin, fat and muscle are addressed during a tummy. While there may be some swelling in the abdomen post-operatively, this procedure should not interfere with digestion once a patient is fully healed. In fact, New Beauty stated, “more often than not patients talk of improved bowel and bladder function. And, in some, a tummy tuck can even help alleviate back pain.”
Another myth is that the belly button is removed during this procedure and a new one is created — also false. While the surrounding skin may be removed to create a lean abdominal profile, the belly button always remains intact.
