While Botox and dermal fillers are the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments out there, you may still find yourself with questions. And that’s perfectly okay, it’s why we’re here! To help you better understand your treatment and get the most out of your session.
Now, let’s dive into the most frequently asked questions we get about our leading injectable services:
What is the difference between Botox and fillers?
Botox Cosmetic has been FDA-approved to provide age-defying results with incredible ease and little to no downtime for 20 years. Botox is a neuromodulator and is used to temporarily inhibit muscle activity underlying wrinkles, thereby minimizing lines around the eyes, forehead and between the brows. You can expect to start seeing results within the first week or two, lasting anywhere from three to five months.
Dermal fillers on the other hand, such as Juvéderm® and Restylane®, are made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body. As we age, the collagen in our face begins to deplete, which can cause a hollow and tired look along with deep wrinkles, jowls and more. FDA-approved dermal fillers help restore volume where you need it, around the nose, eyes, temples, cheeks, jowls and lips for a refreshed and younger-looking appearance without downtime. Your results can last anywhere from six months to a year, depending on the specific filler you get.
Why are there so many types of Juvéderm and Restylane products?
We’re proud to offer a wide range of dermal filler products, including Juvéderm Volbella®, Juvéderm Voluma®, Restylane Lyft and Restylane Refyne. While all of these products are made of hyaluronic acid, they each have different particle sizes. Each unique filler is best suited for different areas of the face and how you want them to look. For example, finer particles are ideal for fine wrinkles and detailed shaping, while larger particles are ideal for severe wrinkles and greater volume. And while Volbella can add volume to the upper and lower lips, Voluma is designed to add volume to the cheeks and face. During your personal consultation with one of our experienced and licensed nurses, we will help you determine which filler is best suited for your unique needs and goals.
Can I do Botox and fillers during the same session?
Yes, we frequently administer Botox and fillers during the same session to help our patients achieve optimal results. Because each treatment is designed to treat different aging concerns on different areas of the face, they make a perfect pairing! In fact, this combination approach can take years off your face, smoothing away lines on your forehead, between your brows and around your eyes, and boosting volume in your cheeks, lips and jawline simultaneously. You’ll find that when administered together, Botox and fillers reveal a balanced, natural-looking result.
Will my injectable results make me look frozen or overdone?
Having this concern is totally understandable. We’ve all seen the results of bad injectable treatments, where the person looks odd or fake. The key is in the injector. Fortunately, at Atagi Plastic Surgery and Skin Aesthetics, our master injectors are well-versed in administering the most flattering and natural-looking results possible. By carefully studying your facial anatomy and bone structure, our skilled team will tailor your injectable treatment to your unique needs, choosing the exact products to achieve the best results.
