Interested in undergoing a facelift, but too anxious to pursue one? You’re not alone. At Atagi Plastic Surgery & Skin Aesthetics, we want to reassure you that facelifts are a safe and common procedure. Performed by leading plastic surgeon Dr. Tanya A. Atagi, one of the few female surgeons in Denver, facelifts and necklifts afford long-lasting, natural-looking rejuvenation with a surprisingly manageable recovery time.
Here’s a look at some of the most common facelift concerns we hear, along with our expert insight.
Will I be out of commission for a month?
Downtime depends on the extent of your procedure and your body’s unique response to surgery. We generally recommend taking about two weeks off from work. The first week, your swelling and bruising is most pronounced, but these side effects dissipate day by day. We will work with you every step of the way, providing detailed pre- and post-op surgical care instructions so you know exactly what to expect. When in doubt, don’t hesitate to call us. We are here to help!
Will my face look tight?
Dr. Atagi has spent years of surgical training acquiring not only the skill but also the artistic vision to achieve natural-looking, flattering benefits that align perfectly with your unique facial contours. Dr. Atagi is passionate about bringing out your best, and she will work closely with you to ensure your results are exceptional, never tight or unnatural.
How can I minimize downtime?
There are many steps you can take to speed your recovery, including avoiding alcohol and other blood thinning substances (aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, herbal products, vitamins). We will provide a more detailed list prior to surgery. You will also receive a probiotic and SinEcch™, an anti-bruising supplement. After surgery, you will receive two lymphatic treatments to help minimize swelling. You should also eat well and get adequate rest so your body is properly fueled to expend energy healing.
Will I be in a lot of pain?
Rest assured, facelifts are a common and well-tolerated procedure. Surgery is surgery, however, which means you will feel soreness and may experience a burning/tingling sensation at the surgical sites. We will help you to understand exactly what to expect before your procedure and prescribe pain medication to ensure your comfort during recovery.
How do I know if a facelift is right for me?
There are many options to consider when looking for a lift in your appearance. Many patients get their desired results with an eyelid lift, while others may benefit from a mini facelift, which addresses the lower part of the face. Your personal consultation is the place to discover all your options, and we can’t wait to help you determine the ideal plan for you!
We want you to feel as comfortable and familiar as possible with your surgical experience. Be fearless about asking us questions, such as the type of anesthesia you will need, the exact areas of the incisions, and the types of pain medication you will need at home.
