Anti-aging breakthrough Kybella®, the world’s first and only FDA-approved injectable for submental fat reduction, has the power to change lives. This non-surgical treatment can help banish pesky fat under the chin, also known as submental fullness, and dramatically transform a person’s profile for years of long-lasting rejuvenation and confidence.
We are often asked about Kybella, and have noticed that some people are nervous about possible side effects. To help put your fears to rest, we’d like to share some of the most common concerns, along with our expert insight.
Concern #1
Does Kybella make you swell?
Yes, but swelling is actually a good thing with Kybella. It’s a sign your treatment is working! Kybella is made of a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that helps break down fat cells. Swelling indicates that deoxycholic acid is hard at work eating away those unwanted fat cells.
Concern #2
Will I be stuck inside for weeks?
No. Kybella should cause swelling, but most people can camouflage this side effect by wearing turtlenecks or scarves. You’ll be able to resume your regular schedule soon after your treatment.
Concern #3
Is Kybella painful?
We’ll numb your chin with a topical anesthetic, then map out the exact areas of injection and apply ice to enhance your comfort. The actual injection part involves tiny, successive pricks under the chin that are well-tolerated. Discomfort will subside shortly after your treatment.
Concern #4
Is recovery complicated?
Not at all. In fact, there’s very little for you to do after your treatment other than relax and wait for Kybella to do its job.
