What is “It”? “It” is a ratio or proportion defined by the ancient number Phi = 1.618033988749895… which can be derived with a number of geometric constructions, each of which divides a line at a unique point. Also known as “The Golden Ratio,” this ratio has been used by mankind for centuries in construction and it appears it this mysterious number is also found in the proportions of the human body, the spiral of a seashell, the solar system, in music and even in our DNA. It was perhaps most famously depicted in the classic drawing by Leonardo da Vinci, where a naked man with outstretched arms is enclosed in a circle.
